What are corporate gift boxes?
Corporate gift boxes are branded boxes a business sends to staff, clients or event guests. They usually hold a set of items, such as a notebook, pen and flask, in a cut insert. They come in rigid board for keepsake gifts or folding card for larger runs.
| Typical size | Inside L × W × H (mm) | Often used for |
|---|---|---|
| Desk gift | 200 × 150 × 60 | Pen, notebook |
| Welcome kit | 300 × 220 × 80 | Onboarding items |
| Drinks gift | 340 × 250 × 110 | Bottle and glasses |
| Event pack | 400 × 300 × 120 | Speaker or client gifts |
What are corporate gift boxes and who orders them?
They are boxes made for gifts that come from a company rather than a person. The box carries the brand, so the gift reads as yours before anyone sees what is inside.
Buyers are HR and people teams sending welcome kits, account managers sending client thank-yous, and marketing teams packing launch or conference sets. Agencies also order them on behalf of the brands they look after.
Which box style suits a corporate gift?
The style follows the contents and the budget. A rigid lid and base box with a card insert is the most common choice for a notebook, pen and flask set. A hinged box that opens like a book feels formal and suits leather accessories.
| Style | How it opens | Typical contents |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid lid and base | Lid lifts straight up off the base | Notebook, pen, flask, USB drive |
| Hinged book-style box | Front cover swings open on a spine | Card holder, keyring, pen, wallet |
| Lid box with drawer | Lid lifts; a slim drawer slides out below | Gift set on top, documents or a pen below |
| Folding card mailer | Tuck lid folds back | Event packs and sample kits in volume |
To compare the rigid opening styles side by side, see magnetic vs lid and base vs drawer.
How do the lid, hinge and drawer work?
On a lid and base box, the lid is a separate tray that drops over the base. It lifts off with a slight drag of air, which gives the opening a moment of pause.
A book-style box has a cover joined to the base along one spine. A hidden magnet in the front flap holds it shut, so it stays closed in a courier bag and clicks open on the desk.
The two-level box adds a slim drawer under the main tray, pulled by a ribbon tab. It is useful when a welcome letter, a lanyard or a pen needs to stay apart from the main gift.
What size corporate gift box do you need?
Lay the items out as you want them seen, then measure the footprint and the tallest piece. Our typical sizes are a common starting point; every box is made to your sizes.
- Desk gift, about 200 × 150 × 60 mm: a pen and card holder, or a mug and coaster.
- Welcome kit, about 300 × 220 × 80 mm: an A5 notebook, pen, flask and a small tech item.
- Drinks gift, about 340 × 250 × 110 mm: a bottle laid flat with two glasses or snacks.
- Event pack, about 400 × 300 × 120 mm: a mixed conference kit with a printed guide.
Our guide to measuring gift box inside sizes shows where to measure tall items such as flasks.
Rigid board or folding card for company gifts?
Rigid greyboard wrapped in printed paper is what most people picture. It does not flex, it stacks, and recipients keep it for cables, stationery or photos. It takes 8–10 working days after proof approval and is quoted higher.
Folding boxboard suits big event runs and kits posted to hundreds of staff. It packs flat, folds in seconds and takes 4–6 working days. It starts from £0.25 a box, with the final price on your quote.
How should a logo be printed on a corporate box?
Most brands keep the outside quiet. A single foil logo on a dark matt lid, or a blind deboss with no ink at all, looks deliberate. Spot UV on a soft-touch lid gives a logo that shows only when the light hits it.
Put the colour inside. The underside of the lid is a good place for a welcome message, the company values or a short note from the founder. We print inside in full colour and match brand colours to Pantone on request.
Our designers place your logo on the flat layout for a free proof. You can begin on the Design Your Gift Box page.
Inserts that hold every item in place
An insert decides whether a box arrives neat or rattled. We cut a recess for each item, with a finger notch beside small pieces so they lift out easily.
- Card inserts: wrapped in printed paper to match the box, lowest cost
- Foam inserts: snug hold for metal pens, glass and tech
- Pulp inserts: moulded around bottles and jars
- Ribbon pull under a tray, so the whole insert lifts out
- Printed message card that sits on top of the insert
More on choosing between them in our guide to gift box inserts.
When do companies send gift boxes?
Onboarding is the biggest reason. A new starter kit on the first day sets the tone for the job. Client gifts follow at contract signings, renewals and year-end.
Staff awards, long-service milestones and retirements suit a rigid box the person keeps. Conferences, product launches and press mailings tend to need folding card in larger numbers.
Some teams order one rigid box design and change only the message card inside. The same box then serves a welcome kit in spring and a client gift in autumn, which keeps reorders simple.
Packing and sending boxes to many addresses
We deliver your boxes, flat or made up, by free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses in 2–3 working days. Most teams have them sent to the office or a fulfilment partner, who packs and posts each gift.
Rigid boxes posted on to individual homes need an outer carton. A magnetic or ribbon-tied closure keeps the lid on while it is in transit.
Folding card kits can be packed by your own team. Fold the box, drop in the insert, add the items and close the lid. After the first few, each kit takes very little time.
What mistakes slow down corporate gift orders?
- Ordering boxes before the items are confirmed. One change of flask size means a new insert.
- Sending a low resolution logo. We need a vector file or a large image for foil and deboss.
- Missing the budget sign-off. Get the quote approved before the proof stage.
- Leaving no slack for proof edits. Allow a few days on top of production time.
- Forgetting the inside of the lid. It is the best space for a welcome note.

Corporate Gift box questions
Still unsure? Ask us on WhatsApp or call +44 7578 382054.
Can a corporate gift box hold a notebook, pen and flask together?
Yes. That is the set we make most often. We cut a recess for each item in a card or foam insert so nothing shifts.
Do you need the items before making the insert?
Exact sizes are enough for most items. For odd shapes, a sample or a supplier drawing helps us cut the recess accurately.
Can our logo be debossed without ink?
Yes. A blind deboss presses the logo into the lid with no colour. It works best on soft-touch or matt paper.
Is a magnetic closure worth it for client gifts?
For boxes that travel by post or courier, yes. The hidden magnet keeps the cover shut, and it opens with a light pull.
Can we put a welcome message inside the lid?
Yes. The inside of the lid is printed in full colour, so it can carry a welcome note, a team photo or a short how-to.
Can you match our brand colour exactly?
We match to Pantone references on request. Send the code with your artwork and we check it on the proof.
Can different departments use different box designs?
Yes. Several designs can be quoted on one request, keeping the same box size and insert to hold the cost down.
Which board suits a conference pack for hundreds of delegates?
Folding boxboard. It is lighter, packs flat and is made in 4–6 working days after proof approval.
Will recipients keep a rigid corporate box?
Many do. A rigid box with a lid ends up holding cables, stationery or keepsakes, which keeps your logo on the desk.
Can you deliver to our office and a fulfilment house?
Tell us the split on your quote request. Delivery is free and tracked to UK mainland addresses.
Can a corporate box include a drawer for documents?
Yes. We can add a slim drawer under the main tray, pulled by a ribbon tab, for a letter, card or pen.
How long does a corporate gift box order take?
Allow one working day for the quote, time for proof edits, then 8–10 working days for rigid or 4–6 for folding card, plus 2–3 days for delivery.
